HPMC hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose is a cellulose variety whose production and usage have been increasing rapidly in recent years. It is a non-ionic cellulose mixed ether made by a series of reactions of refined cotton after alkalization, using propylene oxide and methyl chloride as etherifying agents. The degree of substitution is generally 1.2~2.0. Its properties vary depending on the ratio of methoxy content to hydroxypropyl content.
